Judith was born in Atlanta, Georgia, attended Agnes Scott, College (BA), Emory University (MA), and the University of Georgia (PhD). She has been professor of French at Kennesaw State University (Marietta, GA) and Winthrop University (Rock Hill, SC). While teaching, Judith earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in piano performance. She gives solo recitals as well as duo piano programs with her husband, pianist Eugene Barban. Her hobby is fiction writing, and her passion is fishing the Canadian wilderness. She lives in Tega Cay, SC, with her husband and three cats.


Judith Barban was elected to Phi Beta Kappa at Agnes Scott College, received a Fulbright grant to France, and a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to study at Columbia University.
As a professor she received numerous teaching awards and was frequently designated as "mentor" by graduating seniors.
She was Vice President of the Pi Delta Phi, the national French honor organization, President of The Southern Comparative Literature Association, President of The Philological Association of the Carolinas. She has served as Editor of Postscript--a literary journal, Editor of the Pi Delta Phi Newsletter,and on the Editorial Board of Medieval Perspectives, a scholarly journal
